Closing out a busy summer run, Hellbent Records boss Cloonee welcomes Nacho Scoppa to the imprint for his label debut, ‘Groove Rosarino EP’, bringing four cuts that showcase the Argentine producer’s clear knack for finding the sweet spot between groove and rhythm. Named after his hometown, the title track sits at the centre of an EP that captures the sound Scoppa has been crafting over recent years and is now taking with him across the globe.
‘Eugenia’ sets the tone early with a percussive groove, bubbly bassline, and sweeping vocals, before the title track delivers another rolling effort with a mischievous edge, threaded with vocal interjections throughout. ‘Larfjes’ turns up the heat, leaning into more energetic drums for a cut that feels made for open-air terraces, before ‘Moovin’ brings the EP full circle with a track that keeps the rhythm locked and carries the EP through to its close.
Born in Rosario and making an increasingly international name for himself, Scoppa has already taken his sound across Europe and South America, with appearances at The Warehouse Project, Pacha Barcelona and The BPM Festival. His productions have found their way to labels such as Sound D’Elite, elrow, Deeperfect, Kaluki and Bamboleo, while sharing line-ups with names including Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Franky Rizardo and Paco Osuna – offering a glimpse of the company he is now keeping.
