NiftySax Teams Up With Fifi Rong On ‘Crown’

Two worlds collide with jazz saxophonist NiftySax and avant pop singer Fifi Rong’s latest collaborative single ‘Crown’ to be released on the 8th of April via Legato Music. The single is already sold out as an NFT on all web3 platforms. The ground-breaking saxophonist NiftySax previously shared his double album, Spheres which contains 55 carefully crafted tracks, receiving support from the likes of CLASH Magazine and NTS Radio. The classically trained artist established a firm name for himself as Milo Lombardi in the jazz community and has performed throughout Europe. It was during this time that he ran a highly successful crowd-funding campaign which would help him release the Going Nowhere (Enjoying the Ride) LP. More recently, however, we see the artist breaking the mould and creating a solo persona, NiftySax in which he focuses on the saxophone as his only medium.

NiftySax is well-traveled, having been born and raised in Fano, Italy, spending one year living in Sydney, Australia before moving to Berlin, Germany with the occasional show in London. Fifi Rong is a Bejing born and London based singer-songwriter that has collaborated with the likes of Skepta, Tricky, Yello, Phaeleh and Emika. The singer is also becoming highly involved in the NFT community like fellow collaborator NiftySax. Fifi Rong gravitates towards dark and atmospheric sounds, her resulting sound can be associated with the likes of Bjork, Cocteau Twins’ Elizabeth Fraser, FKA Twigs, ANOHNI and Massive Attack as she displays contemporary ballads with atmospheric production with the emotional and melancholic tones of Shlohmo, Sevdaliza and the sultry sensuality of Lana Del Rey. This latest collaborative release ‘Crown’ calls to mind the work of Bjork, FKA Twigs, Portico Quartet and Stan Getz.

NiftySax and Fifi Rong create a delightfully otherworldly and beautifully cohesive track that leaves one in a bewitched state with its ethereal charm that the listener would not be able to resist. Refined saxophone notes open this track with a peaceful and unhurried ambience. Heavenly vocals and harmonizing filters through and cascade the track with additional elegance as the notes become higher, reaching opera-like heights.

NiftySax shares insight on this latest release: “‘Crown’ is the grand finale of a seven-piece, a collaborative journey by NiftySax and Fifi Rong. The track melds sax and vocals into a peaceful meditation intended to inspire feelings of completion and unity.”
