Dutch fashion brand Flâneur launched its label back in May with a standout single from UK talents CNR + Matrefakt, and now Nigel Hey keeps the quality levels high on its second release. He has a high-energy sound built on infectious rhythms, and so, after early production credits including Rauw Alejandro’s global hit ‘El Efecto’, he is now making solo waves in the club and the studio. His contemporary sound is stripped-back and functional, yet big in character, and has recently garnered support from the likes of Sidney Charles.
First up is ‘Come on to Me’, which is a turbocharged space-tech cut with astral melodies and thumping grooves. It’s a perfect mix of physicality and musicality with a killer bassline. ‘Ease Your Mind’ ups the ante with another full-fat groove, this time blending garage bounce with house soul and a diva vocal that ignites the whole track. It’s pure heart for the peak time, and last but not least comes ‘Affection’. This silky, swinging garage-house cut, featuring raw drums and firm kicks, has soulful pads that soften the heart as the feet march along and deft keys twinkle above.
