An amalgamation of three authorities of profoundly heartfelt electronic music, “Your Eyes” offers a glimpse into the genius shared by its esteemed creators. Shallou’s distinctive vocal character gleams through the poignant delivery, a petition for a love interest to merge on a subconscious level. His airy implorations feel weightless, as the looped falsetto hovers above vibrant syncopation, pensive minor piano chord progressions, trumpeting elephant bass stabs, and sublime synth lines. Meticulously detailed and brimming with kaleidoscopic colors, their afro house track has the power to awaken primordial emotions lying dormant from the depths of the soul.

The release spotlights a more visceral perspective from Night Tales and Shallou, who previously synced up last year on their joint release, “I Just Wanted to Dance.” An infectious, piano-laden house track about laying it all out on the dancefloor, the collab has racked up more than 1.7 million streams since its release in 2024.

Shedding light on how the song came to fruition, Night Tales shares: “Following our previous collaboration, ‘I Just Wanted to Dance,’ we reunited with Shallou for ‘Your Eyes’—this time joined by Chilean producer Sistek. The song started as a melodic idea from Shallou, which we reworked into an Afro-inspired groove. Wanting to take it even further into authentic Afro/Latin territory, we brought Sistek on board. His energy and sound helped transform the track into a euphoric and emotional Afro-house ballad that blends rhythm, soul, and connection.”

Reflecting on the winding route the track took to come into existence, Shallou recounts: “This track is a testament to the long journey a song can take. I wrote this idea with my friend Noah (Origami Human) out in Joshua Tree after we toured together. For some reason, I was influenced to write a topline and synth melody that could be sampled for an Afro house song. I had no experience in the genre, so I wasn’t sure what could be the right home for it and started pitching it around to various artist friends. At the time, I was working with Night Tales on some music and sent the original demo to them. They were able to make it a full track and enlisted Sistek to improve it even more. We’re really happy with how it all turned out, and I’m glad the song had the time to find itself and develop into something quite epic! The lyrics are a passionate plea for love to work this time and to be that deeper connection we all crave that lasts a lifetime.”

Australian duo Night Tales is an eclectic electronic music act respecting the artform of oral tradition. Their catalog is a celebration of culture and self-expression, building around key components such as live instrumentation, rhapsodic influences, and an intimate connection to local communities. They recently launched their conceptual live performance show CLR (Color, Love, Rhythm) at Breakaway festival, and have graced the stages at major events such as Coachella, Electric Forest, Bonnaroo, EDC Mexico, and New York Fashion Week.
