“Cycles” is a heart-rendering cinematic trap ballad that centers around being stuck in an unhealthy loop and yearning for a way out. The understated backing in the intro allows Medyk’s captivating vocals to take the focus. Dark pads lay the foundation as dramatic drum sequences build tension. As the intensity increases in Medyk’s voice and lyrics, the production follows suit and swells into a crescendo. Emotion spills over as bursts of squelchy, glitchy leads drive the impassioned drops with gritty low-end, which balances out the orchestral melodies. A pensive break ushers in a state of contemplative reflection that allows the swelling sensation to intensify once again. The climax is a cathartic explosion of sonic fireworks simulating the final goodbye and the emotional weight that comes with it.
