Jakarta-based producer OOTORO makes his triumphant return to NIGHTMODE with the club-ready single “The Plot.” The inventive bass house cut marks his third outing on the label, following his debut “Acide” and his “PARTY” collaboration alongside Australian sensation, Darby. “The Plot” takes OOTORO’s innovative approach to new realms fusing a myriad of sounds into a captivating and energetic groove. Opening with a cinematic violin-driven intro and ragga vocal samples, it defies expectations from the outset. Emo rap vocals elevate the track, while lending it an anthemic and addictive edge. The free-flowing hip-hop bars turn towards aggressive, as blaring siren synths ring out like a warning. Morphing into a hefty house groove, OOTORO layers tumbling basslines, tension-snapping string fills, rap vocal chops, crisp percussion, and moody pads. Blending swagger-fueled raps, bumping bass house drops, and epic strings, OOTORO crafts a unique floor-filing anthem that is unlike anything else.

“OOTORO as a project, has always been influenced by the hip-hop sound. If you noticed, a lot of the old OOTORO tracks are heavily influenced by the genre itself. ‘The Plot’ is the first track that I really wanted to make that was both hip-hop and house music influenced. I wanted to create something original without using samples and I felt like Nayaka and I nailed it. ‘The Plot’ embodies both the classic OOTORO sound with a touch of something that I personally have never done before in my old tracks.”—OOTORO
