UK talent Ossie has made his mark across a range of underground styles from bass and house to disco and garage, always with his trademark sense of groove at the fore. His genre-blurring sounds have become firm favourites with tastemakers like Gilles Peterson, Hyperdub, Kerri Chandler, and Skepta & Jammer, who signed him to their Más Tiempo imprint, where he has since become a label favourite. Now, Ossie adds another string to his bow with a stunning debut on Dam Swindle’s Heist Recordings this summer with ‘That’s A Vibe’.
Title cut ‘That’s A Vibe’ is a throwback to timeless US house masters like Kerri Chandler, with its punchy kicks and musical pads laying down a soulful foundation, topped by an alluring vocal that brings a modern edge. Up next, ‘Are You Still Smiling’ delivers an inescapable party starter, where pumping house kicks, subtle garage inflections and a loved-up vocal sample swirl together to heart-swelling effect in signature Ossie style.
On the digital flip, ‘Clay Clay’ dives into murkier territory with gritty textures, dusty kicks, and chopped-up vocals, all tied together by silky ’90s chords straight out of New York. ‘True Freedom’ wraps up the EP on a high, blending sunny synth motifs and emotive vocals into a smooth and supple house cut, topped off with yet another killer Ossie groove that’s sure to light up summer dancefloors.
Ossie’s ‘That’s A Vibe’ EP drops via Heist Recordings on 15th August 2025, with the title cut set to drop on August 1st.
