The last 12 months have been huge for Otik, who debuted on Future Classic, has released on the likes of 3024 and Aus Music and recently celebrated the release of his debut album, ‘Cosmosis’. He heads up his own Solar Body label and works at the intersection of house, techno and breaks, where he cooks up anything from dark and heads-down material to more bright, melodic and uplifting sounds.
This time out, he brings his touch of class to Marsh’s ‘Elation’ which dropped back in November. His superb rework has plenty of peak-time rave energy with pitched-up vocals and thrilling breakbeats. The synths are futuristic and dart about the mix as gurgling bass and swirling pads mean the whole thing brims with vibrant colour and intense emotions.
In Otik’s own words, “I decided to create a whole other universe with this remix. I loved the airy and euphoric atmosphere of the original, but I wanted to take the elements into my world and inject some darkness and intensity into the stems.”
Otik’s remix of ‘Elation’ shows another stylish side to his ever-evolving and exciting sound.
