Paccu, co-founder of underground label and globe-trotting event series Mosaic, makes his Repopulate Mars debut alongside TWOMOVE with ‘Intención’ and ‘Out of Love’. The Austrian artist’s productions have earned support from the likes of Sirus Hood, Manda Moor and Lee Foss, while clocking up more than 30 million streams and multiple Beatport Top 10 placements. The release sees Paccu reunite with TWOMOVE following previous outings on Mosaic, marking their first release on Lee Foss’ Repopulate Mars.
“‘Intención’ started with a vocal sample that was super catchy and caught my ear right away. I wanted to make a club-leaning track. I’ve been a big fan of RPM since I first got into house music, and Lee was one of the earliest supporters of my music, backing my track ‘Gold Sweat’ a few years back. We reconnected at the Solid Grooves opening party at DC-10, and afterwards I sent him four demos. ‘Intención’ and ‘Out of Love’ were the two that stood out to him. To me, the song embodies late summer: going out with your friends, late nights being carefree. It didn’t take long to lock everything in, and I’m really excited and grateful for my debut on RPM.”
On ‘Out Of Love’, I loved the trumpet part the first time I heard it. I pitched it down to give it a more mysterious and smoky, jazzy feel. At first I wanted to make it a more laid-back track, but once I added the percussion I knew it had to be more techy. It all came together when vocals matched the mood perfectly. I kept the production really simple on purpose so the focus stays on that trumpet melody and the snappy drums and percussion.” – Paccu
