Genre-blending artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Gazel has shared the remixes of her latest single, ‘Rain Is Coming’ – the latest track to be taken from her upcoming debut album Gazel’s Book Of Souls, out October 4th – as well as announcing a run of headline shows to celebrate the album’s release.

Pangaea and Mixhell have both contributed their own reworks, highlighting the track’s unique instrumentation and melodicism set against minimalist, pulsating rhythms, while ‘Rain Is Here’, Gazel’s own remix, is evocative of the likes of Four Tet or Bonobo. Subverting swelling and emotive synths and flowing melodies in favour of warped loops and driving beats, the remixes are infectious and mesmeric rebirths of the original.
MIXHELL
Producing and performing together since 2004, Mixhell started touring in Europe and US around 2007. After collaborating with many artists such as Diplo, MSTRKRFT, 2manydjs, DJ Hell among others, they have build a solid underground career in electronic music in which they would perform with live instruments. Moving from Sao Paulo to London in 2013 led Mixhell to work closely with Soulwax, recording and performing their most album ‘From Deewee’ as part of their 7 piece band.
PANGAEA
After a decade spent standing high above (and well to the left of) the competition where forward-thinking, underground music is concerned – Hessle Audio are arguably still one of the most important labels in dance music. This trailblazing triptych didn’t have to wait too long before the general powers that be decided the usual ranks of rave notoriety didn’t apply; as we were clearly talking modern day, electronic folk heroes, and nothing less.
Kevin ‘Pangaea’ McAuley defies all laws pertaining to genre influence where clarity of voice in composition is concerned: digging semi-deep into almost any of his tracks will throw up myriad stylistic references, range adjectives and plenty of fuel for similes. Trusting his abilities, tastes and discern brings with it an air of romanticism, and that natural ability to soak up what’s around him to pour it straight back in has been critical too. This simple ethos; being at peace with who he is and what he’s about – seems to have afforded him the freedom to just keep making and sharing, where others would find themselves filling the space with calculated noise.
