PAUL SAWYER ANNOUNCES FORTHCOMING NEW ALBUM ‘30 YEARS A DJ’

THE LP CELEBRATES THREE DECADES IN THE GAME FOR THE RESPECTED DJ, PRODUCER AND LABEL OWNER

Celebrating a landmark anniversary, Paul Sawyer will release 30 Years a DJ in February 2023: a thirty track collection of original productions and remixes from a truly remarkable career. To coincide with the release, Paul is also set to host a 30 hour radio show on DI.FM, featuring 30 guest DJs including Booka Shade, Paul Oakenfold, Kristina Sky, Dave Seaman and Anthony Pappa.

It’s something of an understatement to say that Paul Sawyer has firmly stamped his mark within the electronic music scene. Over the last three decades he has never stopped working, and now boasts a catalogue that includes originals and remixes on storied labels such as Perfecto Records, Pure Progressive, Black Hole Recordings, Armada, Toolroom and many more, including his own highly respected Krafted Underground imprint. Few artists have such a long career; fewer still operate at such a high level of consistency and creativity.

To celebrate this remarkable milestone in his career,  Paul wil release his album 30 Years a A DJ on 17 February 2023. Compromising 30 tracks from his extensive discography – including three brand new and previously unreleased tracks – it is a comprehensive collection of one of progressive house’s most vital and passionate proponents.

“It’s amazing to think that 30 years has passed since the first year of Djing professionally. I’ve seen so many changes over those three decades, but my passion for the music has never changed. Most recently I’ve managed to land two 6 month residencies on BBC Radio 1, which was just something that I never would have thought would happen when I started all this.

“The album contains music from my label and also from some of the labels that I have been releasing with, as well as new material and an exclusive remix for Paul Oakenfold that he kindly gave permission to be included.” Paul Sawyer

In addition to the Paul Oakenfold remix and two other new productions, notable tracks include Paul’s rework of 90’s hit ‘Perfect Motion’ by Sunscreen, his remix of ‘I Want You Here’ featuring Thea Riley put out by Solarstone on his Pure Trance label, and his recent release on Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Records ‘Waiting All My Life’ featuring Ana Be, which was on heavy rotation on BBC Music Introducing during the summer of 2021.

To coincide with the release of the album, Paul will also be hosting a 30 hour radio show on DI.FM, featuring 30 guest DJs including Booka Shade, Paul Oakenfold, Kristina Sky, Dave Seaman, Anthony Pappa and more. This follows a Krafted guest slot on BBC Radio 1 alongside Simon Sinfield that was broadcast 07 January.

Paul’s career in music began in the early 90’s after spending a season at Eden Nightclub, Ibiza (called the Star Club at the time) playing every night alongside a long list of A-list DJs. On his return to the UK, Paul joined Menage a Trois and launched the infamous boat parties that put the South Coast on the clubbing map, with Sasha & John Digweed launching their seminal Northern Exposure album there in 1996.

In 2013, Paul launched Krafted Underground to concentrate on releasing progressive house and melodic techno, which has now celebrated it’s 300 release mark during 2022 and includes a who’s who of the progressive genre within its catalogue.

Boasting a six-month residency on the World’s biggest radio station BBC Radio 1 from Feb 2021 and returning with another six-show series in Jan 2022, Paul brought his Krafted label to the forefront of the melodic scene showcasing many of the label’s catalogue and invited three Krafted artists to host a show. His releases have become a regular feature on BBC Music Introducing with the majority of his music being played on the show during 2022.

Having toured the World for several years, Paul has played at many key events including Ministry of Sound, Egg London, Cream, Renaissance, Bestival, Bedrock, Airpusher (USA), B’estfest and was cited by Mixmag as ‘a DJ to look out for’, as well as one of the UK’s top residents by DJ Magazine.
