Pheelo returns to the Repopulate Mars orbit on May 1 with the ‘Move To The Beat’ EP, a tightly engineered three-tracker that doubles down on the Italian producer’s dark, minimal-leaning sensibilities. Fresh from his South of Saturn debut, which won support from the likes of Jamie Jones and Solardo, this latest outing sees him further refine a sound that’s already found a home on Metamorfosi Records, Criterio Music,and beyond.
Title track ‘Move To The Beat’ rides on tight, clipped percussion and a gritty, driving bassline, while acidic stabs and icy hi-hats bring the groove to life. ‘Oblivion’ follows, leaning into snappy drum funk and rasping textures, with a whistled hook adding an offbeat charm, primed for peak-time moments in Ibiza and beyond. Closer ‘Down To Business’ lives up to its name: no-nonsense, high impact. Signature drums and rapid-fire synth stabs lock in, while aloof vocals introduce a rave-tinged R&B twist.
