RARÓG hails from Gorzów Wielkopolski, an industrial city in western Poland that has influenced his raw, uncompromising DIY sound. He has also been drawn to darkness in music, and that manifests in the material he releases as he blends Techno, ambient, IDM, drone, EBM and metal into arresting, filmic soundscapes on labels like this one, ANTIMODUS and [R]3volution Uncod3d. Singular shadowy intensity and unrelenting depth define his latest outing once more.
Evocative opener ‘Dark Sun’ has a rolling techno rhythm that is detailed with caustic texture, wiry electronics and a sense of post-human dystopia. It’s a wall of sound for heads-down dancing, and then ‘Elephant In The Room’ kicks like its namesake with earth-shattering weight. Intense, stormy synths and oversized hi-hats heighten the intensity and ensure maximum destruction on the dancefloor. The fantastically freaky ‘World Turtle’ layers up filthy layers of rusty metal, distorted bass and ice-cold synths into a descent into a sordid underworld and ‘Drone Buzz’ keeps the intensity going this time with more jostling broken beats and a backlit glow of industrial noise that consumes everything in its wake.
