Warsaw’s Private Press are back on Ben Sims’ Hardgroove imprint after three years with the five-track ‘Very Cosmic’ EP following their 2021 missive, the ‘Busybody’ EP.
The ‘Very Cosmic’ EP sees Adam Brocki & Jan Wóycick, aka Private Press, deliver an array of peak-time energy throughout. From the counterpoint of dubby stabs and manic percussion shot through with wobbly LFO EFX of the title track, the slip-slide discordance of ‘Big Shell Incident’, the granular melody mangling of ‘Removable Obstacle’ and fluid, filter madness of ‘New Outer Haven’, ‘Very Cosmic’ delicately subverts foundational Techno signifiers with real class. Add in a drummy, vocal sample-led bit of classic Hardgroove action with just the right amount of weirdness, and ‘Very Cosmic’ rounds itself out perfectly.
With releases and remixes for Rekids, E-Missions, Feel My Bicep and Indigo Area, as well as a contribution to Sims’ Synchronicity comp on his Symbolism imprint, Private Press has an impeccable discography since its inception in 2016.
