Private Press follow up their ‘Busy Body’ (2021) and ‘Very Cosmic’ (2024) EPs on Hardgroove with ‘Problems Arise, As Expected’ releasing on the 30th October, complete with two edits from label boss Ben Sims.

‘Problems Arise, As Expected’ kicks off with the first of five tracks, ‘Hit Em’ (Tool Mix), a rumbling groove that balances deep, sweeping reverbs with dry, punchy stabs. The Sims edit of ‘Still Pushing’ follows, with undulating percussion and futuristic synths that combine to create a classy, late-night vibe, while the pounding ‘Hardware J’ (Smooth Mix) doubles down on high-tech leads. Sims’ second edit on the package, ‘GH Tunnel’ delivers frenetic energy and swarming, all-consuming synths before the closer, ‘Disco Dirt’ adds some earthy funk to the release.
