With close to two decades spent refining his craft across house and techno, French sensation Rafael Cerato has been proven that he knows his way around all types of crowd-pleasers. For his debut outing on IN / ROTATION, he sets his sights on the burgeoning indie dance space. “Rude Boy” dives headfirst into a gritty, club-focused groove, one that is engineered for high-voltage moments on the dancefloor. Anchored to a grime-style vocal hook, the hip-hop phrases shred through the track with serious torque. The weighty, rolling rhythms mirror the badman aesthetic with its buzzsaw basslines, sharp percussion loops, whizzing synth fills, and an ululating siren-filled breakbeat breakdown that hits like controlled chaos.
Speaking to the raw energy fueling his new single, Rafael Cerato says, “‘Rude Boi’ is all about attitude—big bass, playful energy, and that wild club vibe that makes people move without thinking. It’s a pure release.”
With roots in Aix-en-Provence, Rafael Cerato has stayed in tune with the spirit of the underground for more than a decade. Renowned for his ability to transcend above house and techno, his prolific output draws from an array of genres, such as new wave, dark disco, EBM, filter house, and melodic techno. Since 2020 alone, Cerato has released two full-length albums, his debut ‘Requiem’ and the subsequent ‘My Reality,’ and has collaborated with respected names from the likes of Innellea, Marc Romboy, Vintage Culture, Tiesto, and ID ID. His productions have earned tastemaker support from heavyweights like Solomun, Gorgon City, and John Summit.
Beyond the studio, Rafael Cerato has hit notable stages around the world, with past performances at Hï Ibiza, Pacha, Egg London, Tribe Festival, Zuckerbot, and Spekto Open Air. He’s rounding out a fruitful 2025, with upcoming sets in Argentina at El Teatrino, Hipodromo de la Plata, Open Air pm at Acceso Punta Carrasco, as well as a stop at KOKO Electronic (London), and his ‘RITUALS’ 4 YEARS showcase via a back-to-back set with Einmusik.
With “Rude Boy,” Rafael Cerato stakes his claim on IN / ROTATION, bringing a gritty yet infectious sound that serves as a testament to his ability to stay leaps and bounds ahead of where the underground is headed.
Rafel Cerato’s new single “Rude Boy” is available on all platforms via IN/ROTATION Records.
