Ren Lawton releases debut album ‘Today Today Tomorrow’

Ren Lawton is delighted to announce the release of his debut album, Today Today Tomorrow. Combining elements of traditional and contemporary folk, with Americana, blues and rock, Today Today Tomorrow is a vibrant modern folk album.

Ren Lawton’s inimitable approach to songwriting has gained a swell of support from the UK folk community with the likes of Folk RadioThank Folk For ThatAmericana UKFor Folk’s Sake, as well as BBC Introducing MixtapeBBC WalesBBC Newcastle and BBC Bristol, all featuring the artist.

Today Today Tomorrow is a distinctive album drawing inspiration from British folk traditions. Ren illustrates his eclectic methodology through the gentle soothing of the album title track, to the playful, uplifting bop of ‘Thinking About You’. As you move through the record the multi-genre variety becomes ever more apparent. From the ethereal beauty of ‘Willow’ and ‘Come All You Mourners’ to the harmonica-filled crescendo of latest single ‘The Writer’Today Today Tomorrow dazzles throughout.

The brainchild of Conor Owen, Ren Lawton was conceived after Conor had experienced the highs of supporting the likes of We Are Scientists and The Subways. With a notable ability to play a varied selection of instruments – from guitars and trumpet to harmonica and piano – Ren Lawton was a project that would transform Conor’s style of music. He was able to create mature vignettes inspired by the great storytellers from music and beyond such as Bob Dylan and Frank O‘Connor. The result is debut album, Today Today Tomorrow; a collection of songs, emotive and personal, cutting right to the heart of who Conor is.

Today Today Tomorrow, out now. To support the release, Ren Lawton will play The Green Note, London tomorrow.
