A bumpin’ raw house cut, Luuk van Dijk’s remix of ‘Friki’ centres around punchy kick drums, a hypnotic vocal sample and an understated groove. It will feature on Locklead’s forthcoming EP ‘Era’, the first ever vinyl release on Dark Side Of The Sun, out next month.
“I started my label Dark Side Of The Sun three years ago because I wanted to give myself more freedom to release what and when I want,” Luuk van Dijk explains. “I like to make all kinds of house and techno music and I was struggling getting everything signed to the right labels as the sound didn’t fit to the labels I wanted to release.
He continues: “So when some tracks got rejected but fans were also asking for those tracks I thought it was time to not only try to reach new fans but take care of the fans I’ve made over the years releasing music on other labels. That’s the idea behind Dark Side Of The Sun, a label that doesn’t stick to a certain sound. A place for old and new talent to release their music.”
Utrecht-based Locklead has built his reputation around stellar releases on Slapfunk, Pleasure Zone, Dungeon Meat and Up The Suss, communicating a charming blend of deep house, soul, funk and disco.
One of the hottest new names coming out of Amsterdam’s bustling club scene, Luuk van Dijk is currently making waves in international waters with his infectious take on spirited house music. He has already released on labels like Hot Creations, Cuttin’ Headz, Solid Grooves Records and Eastenderz have established his name as a house music prodigy. He launched Dark Side of the Sun in 2020 with the aim of exploring a broader approach to his signature style.
The Luuk van Dijk remix of ‘Friki’ finds the sweet spot between classic house grooves and fresh energy.
