Producer/DJ Rinzen releases ‘ The Pursuit ’ on February 21 st , a second slice of his forthcoming debut sci – fi concept album, ‘ Bend to the Light ’ (April 5 th ) on Lane 8’ s This Never Happened.
‘ The Pursuit ’: stealthy bass gives way to hi – fi beats and light – speed arps, as high synth chords of unearthly beauty, darkly growling melodic phrases and strange high calls like alien war cries or human laments echo through space to create an effect both sinister and entrancing. ‘ ’ The Pursuit ’ is my attempt at turning science fiction into melodic house & techn o. T o create a song that could soundtrack a dystopian film, whilst still having a propulsive dancefloor energy. The title references both a high – speed motorcycle chase, and the universal human desire to pursue our highest self. ’
The half – Japanese Los Angeles producer honed his innate gift for storytelling as a respected former music journalist/editor. His dystopian, sci – fi inspired cinematic style evokes new worldscapes, even in his more club focused cuts . Rinzen has released on This Never Happened, mau5trap, Bedrock , Desert Hearts … As a DJ, his extended sets at e . g Stereo Montreal , Elsewhere Brooklyn and Sound LA have won him loyal fans . ‘ Bend to the Light ’ album concept: inspired by a cyberpunk aesthetic, Rinzen soundtracks a high – tech near – future of interplanetary travel/civilisations, where a glittering surface hides dark ness below , this new world still dealing with the same human emotional problems, joys and relationships.
