Eshach is a producer and electronic composer who has been honing his deep, delicate style for years. He has delivered award-winning soundtracks for animations and short films, and that experience brings a knack for real narrative and atmosphere that has already shone through his releases on Plattenbank and his own Karakol label, launched earlier this year. As a DJ, he is just as storytelling and has laid down dynamic, cinematic sets at key venues, while artists like John Digweed, Parris and Call Super have played his tunes in the past.
‘Otarie’ opens in a cosmic realm, with starry keys and expansive pads making a widescreen groove. Subtle vocals are layered in to add human soul to the lush, immersive melodies. The excellent ‘You Don’t Get Me’ then heads into after-dark dreamscapes and has real artistry: a deep, profound groove with a roaming bassline that nags away beneath flickering melodies up top. There’s a gentle sway to the drums and swing to the hits that soon casts a spell and locks you into a trance.
