RISING STAR PEMBROKE RELEASES 5-TRACK ‘WISHING STAR’ EP VIA KARIA RECORDS.

Pembroke is the progressive house alias of American Dj/Producer, Hypatia Hopkins. Hypatia’s vision was to create a harmonious symphony between ancient and modern philosophies of music, catapulting the genre to stratospheric heights. Informed by a decade of classical piano training, her prodigious command of classical theory is blended with contemporary engineering and sound design to create a truly unique form of progressive house. With tribal percussion, radiant leads, and deep noir atmospheres, Pembroke’s productions hearken back to the halcyon days of the genre, when the novelty of limitless boundaries cultivated a prismatic exploration of the beautiful and strange recesses of the club experience.

Hypatia is a multi-genre artist, producing dance-heavy pop tunes for vocalists such as Giavacious, VVVIRTU, and Boujee-Boy. Her virtuosic technique flows through a multitude of chromatic styles of the dance music spectrum. Her self-named project is gaining recognition in the dark underground of the hypnotic techno scene with releases on UK labels such as Ecstasy State, Solemne Recordings, and Nffekted Traxx. Commanding heavy industrial drums with haunting textures, Hypatia’s techno is stirring electric energy among DJ’s in the European scene.

Pembroke’s newest release ‘Wishing Star’ EP on Karia Records surmounts a new spire of progressive house architecture. Her ensnaring use of voice leading manifests vibrant harmonic changes throughout the opus.

The title track ‘Wishing Star’ rumbles with deep driving percussion and booming lows contrasted with a wondrously nostalgic melody like forgotten and carefree nursery rhyme, longing for lost emotions.

‘Bird-of-Paradise’ raises the bar as a heroic peak-time banger with a flamboyant and ostentatious display of harmonic tail-feathers. Featuring Pembroke’s signature melodic percussion and operatic lead, this tune shamelessly display’s Hypatia’s mastery of classical theory.

Rounding the middle of the set, ‘Meet Me At Milliways’ invites you to a casual dinner at the end of spacetime. Like one last celebration of the galactic dance, this progressive masterpiece sings to the universal experience of the beautiful cosmic consciousness.

‘Where It Belongs’ takes a sharp turn away from the symphonic melodies to an introspective underworld journey. Short-circuited FM synthesis and rumbling techno thunder ferry the mind right where it belongs, deep inside the recesses of the unconscious.

‘Keffiyeh’ finishes off the EP with a galloping progressive bass line and an improvisational Arabic guitar lead. Incandescent pads paint a desert sky with glittering stars with premonitions of a liberating future.
