Seasoned stalwart Roger Shah returns to Dreamstate Records for his sophomore single. Excitingly, “Forests” also functions as a riveting prelude to the forthcoming artist album that Shah has produced alongside L.A.-based scriptwriter and lyricist Ambedo, which is scheduled to arrive later this year.
The pair’s new collaboration is an immersive trance instrumental that shimmers with the natural beauty of the forests themselves. Building around pulsating basslines, thick kicks, and moody undertones that bubble profusely below the surface, “Forests” sprouts up as a modern and fresh approach to uplifting trance while staying rooted in dark, melodic techno elements. When blooming into the apex of its chorus, the track reveals the type of arresting emotional breakdown that Roger Shah has become known for. The single’s environmental themes are even more pronounced on the special “Tribute To Earth Mix” filling out the B-side, which takes a cinematic route with its storybook spoken-word narration: “You give us shelter, you give us life.”
Speaking on the new single, Roger Shah reveals it’s a tantalising glimpse of things to come: “This is the second single taken from our forthcoming Roger Shah & Ambedo ‘Tribute To Earth’ album. This time, we want to highlight and mention the importance of our forests, which are the lungs of our planet, released again in collaboration with our friends from Dreamstate.”

Ranking five times in the DJ Mag Top 100 throughout his career, he’s a celebrated fixture at Dreamstate events, including the annual flagship Dreamstate SoCal festival, plus the brand’s hosted stage at the world-renowned EDC Las Vegas.
“Forests” arrives as Roger Shah prepares for another illustrious year as one of the leading veterans of the trance scene. He’s scheduled to return to EDC Mexico at the end of February, building upon his sensational set from last year.
This new single on Dreamstate Records alongside Ambedo follows the debut of the duo’s new “Tribute To Earth” live show at Dreamstate SoCal last year, and finds them planting seeds for their highly anticipated conceptual LP.
