Romare returns with new single ‘Quiet Corners of My Mind’. This is a break from the artist’s previously direct jazz and psychedelic references and more of a reference to British folk music, with the song featuring a medieval-esque sample from an Anne Briggs song.
Romare on the single and B-side:
‘Quiet Corners Of My Mind’ was conceived while walking the hills and fields of Kent during lockdown, discovering new roads and old. The Anne Briggs sample running through most of it comes from a CD I bought from a charity shop in Faversham, a beautiful market town in the north of the county. The vocals came from Nat King Cole, one of my favourite American singers.
The B side Pot Of Gold explores a much faster tempo and samples some of the cast from one of the most famous fantasy films of all time.
