Rony Seikaly and Diddy have been friends and neighbors in Miami for some time now. In fact, Diddy has been known to drop by Rony’s club nights at his home on Star Island. So when Rony told Diddy that he was working on his debut album, naturally it made sense for them to finally collaborate. Today they’ve released Won’t Stop Now, a brooding house track that pairs Diddy’s braggadocious swagger to Rony’s immaculate production.

On ‘Won’t Stop Now,’ Rony utilizes an iconic sample from the rap mogul Diddy. The central vocal clip is one of the rap superstar’s chords from his classic track with Nas ‘Hate Me Now’ and complements the insistent rhythm of the cut perfectly. This sits alongside a personal voicemail message from Diddy to Rony. The tension builds steadily, guiding us into a breakdown where the sample comes into full effect. Rony almost seems to be using the selection to communicate his own defiance. By the second breakdown, the energy builds to a mesmerizing crescendo which carries through until the end of the track.

Rony Seikaly announced he was dropping his debut album – Moonwalk – back in September. He’s released two singles from the LP thus far: Safari (released in September, setting the tone for the album) and Envidia feat. Sasha (in October). With the release of Won’t Stop Now, Rony continues to eloquently Euro-step his way to the long-awaited release of his debut album.
