“Are You Happy Now” is a bittersweet melodic bass ballad that wrestles with the pain of break-up and the struggle to cut ties with someone that meant so much in the past. Opening with pensive piano keys, the stripped-down backing allows the emotion to build before Linney’s silky vocals creep in and steal the show. Setting out somber and reflective, both lyrically and with its delivery, the intensity swells, as the ghost of an old flame lingers around every turn. Cinematic drum hits add to the depth of the scene while sparkling synth accents shine through like warm memories that won’t subside. Reaching a crescendo, the whirlwind of emotions erupts into a torrent of high-pitched vox harmonies, soaring synths, and snappy percussion. Moving between glum periods of reflection and questioning emotional peaks, “Are You Happy Now” charters the full range of emotions that come with a lost love.
SABAI shares his excitement around the release, saying, “This is my second collaboration with Linney, and after the success of ‘The Call.’ This is my first song on Lost In Dreams, and I’m so excited to release with them as this label aligns with my brand and sound so well.”
