Manchester-based singer-songwriter Sara Leanne has released her new single ‘Song From Your Daughter’, out now. The track is the lead release from her forthcoming debut EP, Uprooted, due 13th August 2026.
A blend of blues, soul and timeless singer-songwriter influences, ‘Song From Your Daughter’ is difficult to pin to a single genre: closer in spirit to warm, jazz-tinged balladry than straight blues or jazz, it’s a mellow, romantic and quietly devastating listen, built around Sara’s raw and emotive voice.
The song was written to process the loss of her father, and the grief, helplessness, guilt and numbness that followed.
“Deeply personal & honest song about my dad passing away,” Sara says. “The creative process was a really beautiful & necessary form of therapy for me.”
Sara Leanne is a singer-songwriter, pianist and internationally touring musician whose music blends blues, soul, folk and timeless singer-songwriter influences with honest, reflective songwriting. Inspired by artists including Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Tedeschi Trucks Band and The Staves, her music is rooted in warm melodies, rich vocal harmonies and thoughtful storytelling.
Alongside her original music, Sara is best known for performing the role of Christine McVie with Rumours of Fleetwood Mac, officially endorsed by Mick Fleetwood. She has appeared at renowned venues across the world, while building a reputation as a vocalist, pianist and musical director through her own projects and collaborations.
Manchester has been home for five years – the city where Sara became a full-time musician, built connections across the local scene, and found the collaborators who shaped this record.
‘Song From Your Daughter’ was produced by Andrew Jones (who also plays piano on the track), recorded by Matt Butler – an engineer whose credits span Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd and Johnny Cash – at Yellow Shark Studios, Cheltenham. The track was mixed by Andrew Jones and mastered by Lismore Mastering. Artwork is by Pete Edwards, Sara’s father, to whom the song is dedicated.
‘Song From Your Daughter’ is the first taste of Uprooted, Sara’s debut EP, an intimate collection of original songs exploring a year of significant change across the four core foundations of her life: family, love, friendship and music. The EP is slated for release 13th August 2026.
