Bringing together two artists with a shared instinct for powerful, high-energy techno, Sarah De Warren and Tao Andra join forces on ‘God Gave Us Techno’. Across the title track and ‘Higher’, the pair combine their ideas and production styles to create two distinct club cuts, moving between dark, hypnotic intensity and euphoric peak-time energy.
At the heart of the EP is its title track, ‘God Gave Us Techno’, which playfully reimagines the story of creation through the world of techno. “On the first day, God gave us drums…” sets the concept in motion, with each stage introducing another element as the track gradually takes shape. Pounding drums, a heavy low end and hypnotic synths build alongside the narrative, with each new element bringing the track closer to its final creation: techno.
The concept is brought to life through Sarah and Tao’s collaborative production, with both artists shaping every aspect of the track from its driving drums and hypnotic synths to its vocal elements. Their combined approach builds tension throughout, gradually intensifying into a relentless peak-time groove.
On ‘Higher’, the pair explore a different side of their collaboration while maintaining the intensity of the EP. Driving rhythms and powerful production take on a more uplifting and euphoric edge, building towards a high-energy release while remaining firmly rooted in peak-time techno.
Across both tracks, ‘God Gave Us Techno’ showcases the natural crossover between Sarah de Warren and Tao Andra’s respective sounds, bringing their ideas together throughout the creative process, resulting in a release that carries both artists’ identities.
