On the heels of the launch of his NXNJAS alias, Andrew Chen – aka Shogun – returns to his roots with his latest trance treat, “UP.” The brand-new production continues the momentum laid down by his two recently released back-to-back original addictive beats, “Striker” and “Nezuko.” “UP” is out todayvia Black Hole Recordings.

From the minute that the song starts, “UP” throws listeners into the deep end. There is no easing into the song. There is no room for silence. There is no reason to stop dancing. “UP” captures the attention of listeners from the second that they hit “play.” Still, this unique hit manages to slowly ease in instruments and claps, building tension while making it impossible to stand still at any point in the song. The hit is mysterious yet mystical. Intense yet airy. Vibrant yet dark. The bass playing minor chords elevate the song and add a heightened level of emotion to the single, in true Shogun fashion.
Shogun has had a roaring year. In addition to his two recent trance weapons, “Nezuko” and “Striker,” he unveiled a killer remix of his track, “Under My Skin,” courtesy of the legendary Andy Moor, and a remix for Conjure One and Jeza’s powerful “Wolves At The Door” earlier this year. He also recently launched his brand-new NXNJAS alias with the release of one of the most anticipated IDs of the year, “Trinity” on Tiesto’s Musical Freedom alongside Felguk. With NXNJAS, Chen joins forces with his childhood friend, Steven Wright, to deliver their take on house and Brazilian bass via an upcoming stream of originals and remixes.

Continuing to take his musical prowess to new heights, Chen is on track to make 2022 his biggest year yet, with the impending launch of yet another alias: Neo Tokyo. Contrary to his beloved trance-driven Shogun umbrella, Neo Tokyo will focus on techno, trance, and future rave. Neo Tokyo will be launching in August exclusively via Armada Music.
