Dutch electronic pioneers and Circa Waves frontman Kieran Shudall collide in a genre-bending anthem that fuses electronic power with British indie melody.
It’s official: Showtek are joining forces with Kieran Shudall, frontman of acclaimed British indie band Circa Waves, for a collaboration nobody saw coming. Stepping out under his dance alias Francis Waves, Shudall lends his unmistakable voice to “Runaway,” a track that unites the raw power of hard dance with the melodic instinct of British indie. The result is a fresh and powerful record that opens a new chapter for both artists.
The Dutch brother duo Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen, known worldwide as Showtek, have never been afraid to step outside their comfort zone. For them, “Runaway” is a chance to explore another experience: blending genres and bringing two very different musical worlds together on one record.
“We’ve always been big fans of British pop and indie music,” says Wouter Janssen. “Collaborating with artists from different genres is key for us to create unique productions. Blending dance and rave sounds with a strong vocal like this is a great way for us to explore another experience.
Kieran Shudall is no stranger to big choruses. In 2013 he formed Circa Waves in Liverpool, and the band burst onto the scene with indie anthems like “T-Shirt Weather” and “Stuck in My Teeth,” pushing their 2015 debut Young Chasers into the UK Top 10. What followed was a remarkable run of five consecutive UK Top 20 albums, including 2020’s Sad Happy, which peaked at number four, and 2023’s Never Going Under, which topped the UK Independent Albums chart. In 2025, the band returned with Death & Love, Pt. 1.
From underground roots to international crossover hits, Showtek has always bridged the worlds of underground electronic music and mainstream dance culture. “Runaway” shows that the duo is still pushing boundaries, more than two decades into their career.
The single will be released through F_CK THE SYSTEM. Combining top energy with an indie vocal made for singing along, “Runaway” is a record built for your playlist, club nights and late-night drives alike, and a fresh chapter in the evolving sound of both artists.
