SirSchub (he/they) is a folk-pop artist whose signature sound is defined by rich and melodic harmonies combined with thoughtful lyricism and storytelling. With a particular focus on themes around relationships with themself, others, and the world, SirSchub now presents a new 5-track delight entitled ‘Someone Else’s Stories’. The new EP is conceptualised with love songs from the perspective of someone else. In his own words, Schu stated, “These aren’t my stories, but I’m here to tell them all the same.”
The lead track for the EP is ‘Spell It Out’, a love song about two best friends who love each other and only one of them knows. “The singer is basically teasing the person they’re singing about. It’s frustrating but it’s playful and fun.” – Sir Schub
‘Someone Else’s Stories’ is a genre-fluid listening experience. From the playful opening track ‘Spell It Out’ which flaunts a sunny disposition to the brooding ‘All I See’, the EP showcases SirSchub’s diverse artistry.
SirSchub’s tantalising sonics can be likened to artists such as Dodie, Tessa Violet and Orla Gartland.
ABOUT SIRSCHUB
Schu (he/they) grew up surrounded by music. Whether it was his father at the piano, his mother’s singing, or both of his parents harmonizing to music on the radio, there was rarely a day in which music did not play a role. As a result, Schu started singing and making up songs at a very early age. What started as childlike imagination alone in their room grew into a genuine interest in songwriting.
They started writing songs at age eleven and haven’t stopped since. While Schu was interested and involved in a lot of things growing up, music always was his main interest. He went to college for music because “there wasn’t anything else he could imagine doing.”
Schu released their first album, “Hold on to your Hats,” in 2017. Despite their inexperience with audio recording and production, it made Schu realize that making his own music was what he wanted to do. They released their second album, “WorkInProg,” in 2020 as their senior capstone project. Not only was this their first experience working with professional equipment, but it was also their first time working with other musicians on their projects. Since then, Schu has released several EPs and small collections.
