Skrillex has released a new album, ‘F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3’. Sonny Moore first teased the 34-track full-length project last night (31st March), sharing it in mix form in a surprise drop to his recently launched fan email list with the subject line “FUS FULL ALBUM”. Officially out now via Atlantic Records and OWSLA, the album comes paired with an image of a handwritten note by Moore: “Hope you’ll find some time in your busy life to listen to this album from start to finish”, Skrillex wrote and signed off, “♥ Sonny”.
The record features collaborations with Varg2™, Wuki, 100 Gecs’ Dylan Brady, Jónsi, Starrah, Boys Noize, G Jones, Naisha, LOAM, swedm® and more. The opening track is titled ‘SKRILLEX IS DEAD’.
‘FUS’ should fulfil Skrillex’s “final project” for Warner Music Group subsidiary Atlantic Records and begin his shift towards working as an “‘independent’ artist”, a move he shared in a series of posts on X in November 2024. (Around the 31:45 mark of the new LP, an audio clip says, “This beat drop has been seized by Atlantic Records and has been replaced with silence” — see what other moments fans are highlighting on the Skrillex subreddit.)
“I’m thrilled to get this out and focus on more releases in ’25 as an ‘independent’ artist”, he wrote at the time. “But ‘independent’ is such a strange term because I still depend on my team as well as all the other creatives and executors to do what I do… But now I’m able to rethink/relook at how the structures are designed. I want to find ways to simplify decimating music and art. I see lots of artists in a constant panic.”
This past weekend, Skrillex performed on the Ultra Miami Main Stage for the first time in a decade.
