With Slang Dogs’ visceral sound design honed in Denver’s underground and Blurrd Vzn’s gritty, genre-warping edge out of San Diego, ‘Depth Bloom’ fuses the duo’s parallel evolutions into a seamless hybrid of 140, deep dubstep, grime, and trap-rooted sonics. The title track, “Depth Bloom,” slinks through a swampy low-end current—clanking percs echo like metal in a dungeon, while sinister pads and warped plucks swirl into a congealed mass of sub-bass pressure. It’s a slow-burning descent into pure dread that’s as hypnotic as it is heavy.

“Mind” folds subtle jungle motifs into a rolling, hypnotic bassline, layering syncopated rhythms with a seductive darkness that pulls the listener deeper into the EP’s immersive undercurrent. “Psychopathic” taps into the foundational energy of classic UK dubstep, but sharpens the aesthetic with hyper-focused sound design—each element is meticulously sculpted, delivering a trance-inducing cut that bridges nostalgia with surgical precision.

Diving into their long-standing history together, Slang Dogs describes the nature of their collaborative project: “Depth Bloom’ is the longtime collaborative efforts between myself and Blurrd Vzn. These guys have been my good friends since the beginning stages of our projects, and we’ve worked together on quite a few tracks that have never seen the light of day. After many years and many versions, this EP feels like a perfect combination of both of our sounds and I’m super happy with where it landed.

Echoing the excitement around working together, Blurred Vzn says, “Had a blast working on this EP with our homie, Slang Dogs. He was one of our first artist friends when we started Blurrd Vzn, so it feels good releasing this project with him.”

This isn’t the first time the pair have collided creatively: their 2022 link-up “Dismal” hinted at their aligned trajectories. But with years of shelved collaborations and shared creative DNA, ‘Depth Bloom’ feels like a long-awaited culmination—a crystallization of both projects’ dark, forward-pushing instincts.

Slang Dogs has been a consistent force on the Bassrush imprint since 2021, with his Kumarion collab “You Ain’t Tough” recently catching the attention of tastemakers like Dubstep FBI and festivalgoers alike. He’s taken his distinct bass toolkit to landmark stages including Apocalypse: Zombieland, Lost Lands, and Lightning in a Bottle. On the other end, Blurrd Vzn’s footprint includes fire-starting collabs with Hekler (“Brains”) and Eater (“Stand Up”), with support from heavyweights like Zeds Dead, Alison Wonderland, Bro Safari, and Martijn Van Sonderen.

Already field-tested at events like Bass Canyon and Of The Trees’ Red Rocks show, these tracks resonate far beyond studio walls. ‘Depth Bloom’ stands as a definitive project—a darkly refined fusion from two underground staples cutting deeper into the shadows of bass music.
