Swedish musician / producer Slumberville returns with a brand new track ‘Paraná River’, released this July through Nettwerk.
Following on from his recent singles, ‘Bliss’, ‘For The Win’, ‘Gulfoss’ and ‘Forever Young’ ft Woodes, ‘Paraná River’ is a slight change of direction from the lo-fi maestro, channeling quirky, offbeat beats over breezy flute melodies. He says: ”Since I couldn’t travel, and get inspired in this way, during the pandemic I stared a creative game/challenge for me. I began to “Google-watch” different places from around the world. Paraná River was one of those. The approach was; write music while watching pictures and/or YouTube videos. “Paraná River” is what that creative space; what I imagined the river to sound like, was/is. From a production stand point I wanted to capture that “back pack” feel, we are all exploring, somewhere along a river in South America. Flutes, ukulele, acoustic guitar, chanting, singing seemed to fit. Also, I was aiming for a rough and “wild” drum production like Jam Master Jay’s Onyx stuff – all this in a Slumberville..”
Slumberville (Sebastian Fronda) epitomises lo-fi music and is always trying to simplify. “Simplicity is key. Always.” is his motto. Loving the DIY headspace, the approach and creative freedom, of a ‘bedroom producer’, Sebastian loves incorporating different genres/styles into his lo-fi world.
Sebastian Fronda, has been labelled as one of Sweden’s ‘hip hop pioneers’ according to Swedish national TV documentary (SVT – Den Svenska Hiphopens Pionjärer 2021). The multifaceted musician started rapping and producing in 1999 and has been described as ‘one of the most entertaining hip-hop artists’ in Sweden for his ‘heavy beats, unusually interesting choruses and good flow’. A live force to be reckoned with, Sebastian has amassed over 500 live shows in the Nordic countries, including 3 platinum and 10 gold selling songs.
