Los Angeles, CA – Friday, August 28 – Two boundary-pushing forces from the American bass underground, Minneapolis-native BAINBRIDGE and Denver producer High Zombie join forces as SMOKIN POTIONS, unveiling their debut ‘Tell Me’ EP on BREAK ROOM. Introducing their new “dungeoncore” sound, the three-track project is a fusion of gritty, aggressive elements with rhythmic groove and grime, blending the best of the US and UK underground scenes.
The EP’s title track, “Tell Me,” is a futuristic trap single with a bewitching essence. Suspenseful symphonic melodies and sprawling, pitch-gliding synth leads create a transfixing cinematic opening, which carries seething, silky vocals wondering if the new girl can live up to their crazy chemistry. That rhetorical plea becomes a recurring motif as the track fractures into screeching, phase distortion, rapid-fired drums, bouncy club rhythms, bass house grooves, and wonky halftime passages.
SMOKIN POTIONS first introduced their collaborative project last year with “WANT U”, building upon a creative relationship that BAINBRIDGE and High Zombie have cultivated through a series of collaborations from their respective solo projects dating back to 2019, including “BRIKZ”, “Burial Recipe”, and “Misery Potion”, which received tastemaker support from Illenium, PhaseOne, RIOT TEN, Hekler, JEANIE, Bella Renee, Whales, and Pixel Terror. The duo has since taken the project from the studio to the stage, making their U.S. debut in 2025 at Apocalypse Festival and their Canadian debut at Delirium Festival, with upcoming performances at Club Studio Time in Denver, CO, and additional dates in Dallas, TX and Fargo, ND to be announced.
In alchemy, a potion requires burning away impurities to extract the essence. SMOKIN POTIONS represents the modern alchemist—using smoke (the fleeting, intangible, and hazy nature of emotion) and potions (the deliberate, chemical blending of sounds and words) to alter the listener’s state of mind. The underlying theme of ‘TELL ME’ is not just a request for truth, but a desperate plea for self-discovery and total transformation.
