The dynamic force from Los Angeles Softest Hard is flipping the switch for seduction on her follow-up release. Joined by the Grammy-winning artist from Colombia, Kali Uchis, “La Luz” wastes no time at dimming the lights and letting the wildest fantasies take the floor. Uchi’s lush bilingual vocal delivery lands in a place beyond temptation, curling up its finger to move the action over into the bedroom. The Spanish lyrics are pinned down by a glistening trap-infused beat, which lights up the space around her sultry tones with a flurry of 808 drums, rattling low-end, and ethereal melodies. In signature Softest Hard style, she closes out the track with a pounding climax smothered in hard dance ecstasy.

“This record brings out the seductive side of me,” says Softest Hard. “The buildup is airy and pretty with a bouncy, trappy drop. A true Softest Hard masterpiece.”

“La Luz” was originally released as a single on Kali Uchis’ third studio album, ‘Sin Miedo.’ The song was based around “that moment when you set your sights on someone and can’t wait to do everything freaky imaginable with them.” Softest Hard was tapped to stir those emotions to the surface on its official music video, in which she played the singer’s love interest, literally driving the pleasure all the way up to cloud 9. A few years down the road now, and this new rendition serves as a full-circle moment for these close friends and two artists who are thriving in their respective lanes.

The track arrives on the heels of Softest Hard’s debut appearance with the HARD imprint back in February. “Do Over” enlisted the stunning vocal talents of another Grammy winner, the Haitian songwriting sensation Stacey Barthe. The life-affirming topline was elevated by a feel-good trap production that effectively added a whole new layer to Softest Hard’s ever-evolving repertoire. And clearly, she is nowhere near reaching the edges of her creative borders.

Softest Hard’s new single “La Luz,” featuring Kali Uchis, is available everywhere via HARD Recs.

More About HARD Recs

Renowned for curating the most cutting-edge lineups, HARD has solidified itself as a cultural institution within the live events space by continuously staying at the forefront of the ever-evolving dance scene. In 2018, they extended this forward-thinking ethos into their first compilation album, ‘HARD Summer 2018,’ an 18-track package aimed at showcasing the most sought-after sounds in house, techno, bass, trap and hip-hop music. With the launch of their very own HARD Recs imprint, they are providing a platform for the artists sprawled across their many stages at HARD Summer, Holy Ship!, and Day of the Dead. As its first full-fledged artist signing, they recruited UK powerhouse JOYRYDE, who has since released a string of high-octane singles, which eventually led up to his massive debut studio album, ‘BRAVE.’ Good Times Ahead (fka GTA) has graced the catalog with 2019’s ‘Good Times Bad Times at Hard Summer’ mixtape, featuring a star-studded roster that brought together high-profile acts such as Flosstradamus, What So Not, and more. Grammy-nominated sensation Wuki has also been enlisted to the roster, with respective singles featuring Diplo, Snappy Jit, Stoppa, and Juvenile leading up to the forthcoming release of his debut studio album. The most recent artist invited to join the ranks is Portugese bass music maestro HOLLY. With many more new signings coming down the pipeline, HARD Recs will remain dedicated to its mission of shining a light on established legends and on-fire newcomers alike from all across the spectrum of contemporary music.
