Surging US star SOHMI is back with ‘Full Moon’, the second release on her label, Permission. Following a stand-out collaboration with Dosem and a year of eclectic experimentation, the Los Angeles-based talent delivers a fresh, dance-floor-focused release that showcases her deep connection to early 2000s pop/R&B influences, all through her signature dance music lens.

After making waves with her experimental ‘Recital’ EP in 2023, SOHMI describes ‘Full Moon’ as a return to her club roots. “After my more eclectic explorations in last year’s ‘Recital’ EP, ‘Full Moon’ is my first single back on the dancefloor. It’s a unique take on an early 2000s pop/R&B song by the same name and represents the era of music most influential to my musical taste. It’s the perfect blend of those influences reinterpreted as a funky, driving club-ready statement, and I’m proud to be releasing both versions on my label — Permission”.
The release marks SOHMI’s first solo outing of 2024 and follows her Beatport Progressive House #1 collaboration ‘Answer’ with Dosem on Anjunadeep. Delivering a bold statement that firmly plants her in the spotlight once again, the two-tracker also introduces her ‘Metamorphosis Mix’ concept for the first time – reimagining her tracks with more edge and intensity, adding a unique dimension to her growing catalogue. Set for release on Permission, the imprint created to explore dance music in her way, this sophomore outing sees the LA artist continue to blur the lines between underground dance music and expansive pop-leaning realms.
Merging sweeping leads with layered melodies, a bumping bassline and her own alluring vocals, ‘Full Moon’ is an exemplary showcase of her sound, while the ‘Metamorphosis Mix’ strips things back and veers towards the late hours with driving synths and hazy soundscapes.
SOHMI’s journey to date has been nothing short of impressive. The Korean-American DJ/producer and vocalist made a stunning debut in 2020, quickly earning the support of industry giants like Hot Since 82 and RÜFÜS DÜ SOL.
