Allen Hulsey is an Istanbul-based New Yorker whose sound mixes up ethnic instrumentation, his own Turkish vocals, and lush guitar melodies. He released his organic house gem ‘Erase’ on ABAQ last, and now it gets reworked by two producers with a similarly organic, melodic, and emotive touch, just a week after their latest original ‘J’adore’ with HAPPIE.
Nico Stojan is a Berlin favourite and pillar of the house community. The former Bar25 resident and co-founder of Ouïe Records with Acid Pauli is adept at crafting moving grooves that draw from downtempo, jazz, and hip-hop while exploring fresh deep house. Ahead of his new artist album later this year, he works again here with fellow SONARA co-founder Tooker, who brings instrumental skills to his widescreen sounds on labels like Crosstown Rebels, Mobilee, and Sol Selectas.
The pair keeps the soulful vocal essence of ‘Erase’ but layers it over a more propulsive deep-house groove. Supple drums and soft shakers keep things moving as aching pads grow ever more prominent in the mix. Gentle keys and shiny pads brush up against one another as the emotion is drawn out for maximum slow-release pleasure on cosy back-room dance floors. This remix underscores the vision of the already essential SONARA, a label rooted in shared creativity and music that makes a lasting impact.
