Imbued with a heavy dose of nostalgia, “Do It” is a powerful future bass standout with a modern twist. SYSTEM KIDS captivates listeners from the outset with crisp claps, reverberating basslines, and a glossy synth lead carrying a catchy, early 2010s charm. Towering synths and rowdy vocals increase the anticipation before enveloping into a frenetic trap-leaning beat that is fueled by cascading arpeggios and hard-hitting low-end. Sharp wubs add an aggressive edge as the second half progresses into a more menacing evolution. “Do It” is a gripping anthem destined to take over festival stages.
SYSTEM KIDS breaks down the inspiration behind the release, saying, “I really wanted to grab from that feeling of nostalgia but with a modern take. For me, having a song that makes you feel something right away is super important.”
ElmyX and Simona Shao prove to be the perfect pair with the infectious house groove “Waiting For You.” Building momentum off their recent “Off My Head” collab alongside heavyweight producer Habstrakt, the collab is a shining example of how well they work together. The filtered intro injects a feel-good energy that drifts in and out. Simona Shao’s stunning vocals are sultry and impassioned, immersing deeper into its fantasy-like soundscape with each passing bar. The drops hit like a shot of serotonin, with bouncy piano chords and breezy leads creating a sense of pure elation. It’s a feel-good summer house bop that soundtracks the thrills of new love.
Offering a deeper insight into the collaboration, ElmyX says, “This one is kinda new for me! I wanted to try something different with Simona! With nostalgic piano house vibes and euphoric leads and melodies. Simona’s vocals worked perfectly with the track. I’m so happy to finally release it.”
Postcard infuses a sense of nostalgia with deep longing on the emotive “Rewind.” The aptly titled track blends future bass with elements of trance and trap for a captivating auditory journey. Emotion-stirring chords, distant vocals, and glistening atmospherics establish the melancholic introduction. Trancey arps enhance the energy as the elation explodes into the drops via arresting synths, snapping drums, glitchy fills, and chopped vox. Drifting between cathartic releases and somber states of reflection, Postcard captures the feeling of chasing the ghost of a lost love.
Pulling back the curtain on the single, Postcard delves into the inspiration, saying, “‘Rewind’ is a future bass and trap track inspired by the feeling of wanting to go back to someone who is no longer there. The song explores nostalgia and emotional longing, blending melodic elements with harder bass-driven moments. Trance influences add a sense of movement and emotional lift, while glitches and tape stops play a key role in the arrangement, reinforcing the idea of rewinding time and memories, giving the track its name.”
Rounding out the voyage into the dream world comes SYNTHYA’s “Dream Recall.” Alluring arpeggios and spoken word vocals create a hazy vibe that’s amplified by the chopped vox and lush pads. UK rap vocals bring listeners back to earth before dropping into an upbeat four-on-the-floor section, which draws inspiration from classic Euro dance records from the ‘90s. “Dream Recall” is a shapeshifting dance record that is constantly evolving. From the bouncy piano in the second build to the nostalgic diva-like vocals, the sonic palette never stagnates. Injecting a futuristic trancey techno finale furthers the point and is an unexpected yet energetic cherry on top.
SYNTHYA shares his excitement around the release, saying, “I hope you will enjoy ‘Dream Recall’ as much as I do. Hopefully, it provides a little journey for you! I’m so happy to be part of the ‘Gateway Vol. 9’ compilation and to be part of the Lost In Dreams family!”
Opening the doorway to exciting sounds from across the melodic dance spectrum, ‘Gateway Vol. 9’ is an immersive and emotive four-track journey that highlights some of the electronic music scene’s next breakout acts.
