Repopulate Mars marks its tenth anniversary with a fresh take on two standout tracks from its catalogue, as Tony Romera and Jhojho rework early favourites from Greek house heavyweight Detlef.
First up, French house standout Tony Romera takes on 2017’s ‘Swagon’. Known for releases on Defected, Toolroom and Solid Grooves, as well as his own House Delivery imprint, Romera brings a weighty, late-night edge to the classic. Wobbly low end drives the remix, while steamy vocals bubble through the mix and crisp percussion keeps the hypnotic, rolling groove in motion.
Fast-rising Greek talent Jhojho then reworks 2019’s ‘Music Please’. Backed by tastemakers including Jamie Jones, MK and Detlef himself, with releases on Issues, elrow and his own Techords label, Jhojho turns up the heat with searing synths, distorted bass and relentless club energy. A wild spinback sets up a monster drop before the track locks into a heavyweight tech house bounce.
Founded by Lee Foss in 2016, Repopulate Mars has become a defining force in modern house music, championing some of dance music’s biggest names alongside new talent. These remixes connect the label’s early catalogue with a new generation of artists, bringing fresh energy to two of Detlef’s enduring cuts.
