Making a welcome entrance, UK artist Scarper steps into the ring & drops his anticipated Off-Cuts (2014–2021).

Picking up previous support from the likes of Orbital, Laurent Garnier & Carl Craig – radio spins across Rinse FM, Sub FM & BBC 6 Music – along with Press coverage in Mixmag, DJ Mag & XLR8R – Scarper’s debut album Warmer Squares was received to universal critical acclaim. His subsequent single, 2020’s ‘E-Funk’ was a certified dancefloor burner & is currently experiencing a resurgence – thanks in part to a new imprint giving it a physical release.

Fast forward to the present, Scarper now presents Off-Cuts (2014–2021) – featuring a hand picked collection of eight, previously unreleased Warmer Squares / E-Funk-era tracks. Digging into his studio archives & shedding some light on unheard productions that stand up alongside many of his best, Off-Cuts (2014–2021) has been lovingly curated & serves up an array of electronic goodness.

From the epic & emotive chords of the opening ‘Skynet’, to the playful acid squelches of ‘Steppe’ & onto the gorgeous string arrangements of ‘Halocline’ – Scarper recently commented: “I realised I had quite a few demos, jams & ideas on my laptop from that period, some of which were decent enough to polish up & get out into the world. It’s a snapshot of where I was musically at the time, so I thought I’d package them together as a retrospective rather than a proper release – giving people something to enjoy while I crack on with the next project”.

Hailed as a true indie artist, releasing almost exclusively on his own label, Plexus Records – Steve ‘Scarper’ Young is unbound by a singular genre & is as comfortable turning out beautiful melodic pieces, as he is underground bangers. With his wide ranging influences colliding in a marriage of classic sounds & contemporary styles, Scarper continues to amass support from some of the most respected names in electronic music – along with expanding on his international
fanbase.
