The UK duo return with ‘Pure Devotion,’ a forthcoming 11-track album of warped studio experiments, chest-rattling club pressure, and full-body feeling – dropping August 7 via XL Recordings.
Overmono are back with a new album, a new single, and a whole lot of hardware-fried feeling. The UK duo, brothers Tom and Ed Russell, have announced Pure Devotion, their second album, arriving August 7 via XL Recordings. Taking its name from the live event series they launched in 2024, the 11-track record follows 2023’s Good Lies and digs deeper into the raw, physical side of their sound: busted machines, happy accidents, strange studio experiments, and emotional club instincts that hit straight in the chest.
Lead single “Lockup” is out now, built around a sample of Fast Relief’s “What A Waste” and loaded with pummeling drums, super-charged bass, zippy synthlines and laser-focused chords.
The forthcoming album came to fruition after retreating to both Iceland and Spain for two isolated recording retreats, with Overmono pushing their process into proper mad-scientist territory, using vintage synths, magnets, an old train announcement speaker, blown-out gear, and even an oven-baked cymbal. As the duo put it, the whole thing was about “exploring new ways of making tunes,” turning the studio into a playground of warped sound, weird gear, and beautifully cooked-up club experiments.
Overmono will celebrate the album’s release with their biggest London headline show yet at Old Royal Naval College on August 7 with tons of summer shows across the globe in-between.
