The prolific French producer (Behdad Nejatbakhshe) is guided by his Persian/ French heritage. Finding resonance in the Iranian freedom struggles against the fundamentalist regime, Uppermost focusses on respecting these influences while establishing positive emotion with his music. DJ, producer and label boss, Uppermost remains unrivalled in his ability to portray emotion through sound. Recently expanding into the world of filmography, Uppermost’s track, ‘Love’ was featured in an uplifting project directed by Joseph Carlin from Transfixion.
Since his teenage years Uppermost has been inspired by hard rock artists such as Rage Against The Machine, The Prodigy and similar bands. With the current events going on in his country of origin Iran, Uppermost felt the need to express a genuine feeling of revolt and rebelling against the status quo.
On ‘Firestarter’ Uppermost underlines his versatility as an artist, boldly experimenting with a fusion of electronica and rock. The track is at once dramatic and striking, delivering the impact of its sound unflinchingly. As immaculately crafted as anything else in his portfolio, ‘Fire Starter’s powerful and carefully considered soundscape celebrates nonconformity while accentuating Uppermost’s ability to remain innovative and original.
Speaking of the track Uppermost notes: “In the creative process, I have learnt that any idea or inspiration, no matter how useless it may sound, can trigger a big step towards a beautiful artwork if we act on it. ‘Fire Starter’ is a tribute to those elusive moments that can lead to the biggest changes in our lives if we value their power.”
