After making his debut on Vordergrundmusik in 2017 with ‘Prisma’, Frankfurt-based DJ and producer Martin Merz has remained a regular on the label and returned with his ‘Vertigo’ LP earlier this year. The imprint now revisits the eleven-track album and invites a selection of producers to rework three tracks in the shape of ‘Vertigo – The Remixes’ – welcoming re:deep, T.Raumschmiere, Rittik Wystup, and Extrawelt.
Label owner Michael Schreiber, aka re:deep, kicks off the series with his interpretation of ‘Aural Drift’ boasting a vivacious beat and inviting harmonies, leading into the remix from T.Raumschmiere, co-founder of Shitkatapult, who reworks the track into an energetic 135 bpm frenzy.
Rittik Wystup’s version of ‘Back To Life’ offers a net of sharp drums and trickling piano tones between striking synth jabs and arcane vocals, before making way for German duo Extrawelt (Cocoon). The duo delivers two powerful remixes of ‘Highlights’, with the cinematic, electro-infused ‘Cluster Buster Remix’ raising the energy once again and driving towards the peak time, before huge 808s and raw synths combine across the escalating ‘Laser Blazer Remix’ to make for a fitting finale to the series.
‘Vertigo – The Remixes’ will drop via Vordergrundmusik individually throughout February 2022 before releasing the full EP on digital and vinyl on 4th March 2022.
