After his breakthrough Beatport #1 in 2019 with ‘Start The Party’ signalled the start of an exciting few years, UK DJ/producer George Smeddles has been hard at work in the studio and touring the globe all while developing his sound. The past 18 months have welcomed releases on Ben Rau’s META, Moan and his own South imprint, while collaborating with MOXY MUZIK boss Darius Syrossian. Heading into summer and keeping things moving nicely, his next release brings four powerful productions to wAFF’s label NATURE as he unveils his ‘Love’ EP.
The grooving ‘Love’ opens the package, with the title track combining slick percussion, a bumping bassline and soulful vocals for a sun-soaked lead effort made for the summer months. Next up is ‘Up My Sleeve’ as pacy, zipping drums and vocal chants weave amongst bass licks to provide plenty of energy, while ‘Trippy Dust’ leans towards more cosmic tones as rich chords and slinking grooves carry the female vox. To close, ‘Feel Good’ is another crisp roller, bringing an underrated yet driving terrace tool to the fore.
