The original track is lifted from Ka Fu’s recently released album Encoding: Master, which boasts mixing credits by Klas-Henrik Lindblad (Anja Schneider, Rodriguez Jr., The Presets) from Berlin BlackHead Studios and has already seen him receive support from Data Transmission, XS Noize, Child Of House and Progressive Dreamers amongst others.

Da Vosk Docta burst onto the scene with his album Even If You Didn’t Expect It. Truly embracing a myriad of wave music elements, he is, alongside a body of Russian and Polish producers considered to be at the forefront of the genre’s musical evolution. He went on tho release 303K (2018) and Prototype earlier this year, both to acclaim.

Both artists draw from an interesting palette of sonic reference points. Ka Fu’s sound is inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode, while Da Vosk Docta cites influences as varied as J Dilla and Flume. The remix amalgamates the experience and talents of two individuals, while still drawing parallels to the sonic terrain of artists such as Øfdream, CHVRN and DeadCrow.

‘Good & Grey (Da Vosk Docta Remix)’ maintains elements of Ka Fu’s driving rhythmic proclivities and sense of urgency, but is furnished with a deeper, more ominous feel through rolling basslines and washes of texture. Vocal cuts have been toned down to a minimum, subtly haunting the peripherals as the track ebbs and flows through a hypnotic landscape of ethereal melodies and dark undertones.

Speaking of the track Ka Fu explains: “I’m always trying to build multidimensional scapes in my sound to activate all possible emotions. So for me to have Da Vosk Docta as the remixer is pure luck because he is able to create that feeling of  total immersion – as if the sound is inside and around you, not just coming through your ears.”. Da Vosk Docta adds: “I took the main synths from original, recorded some deep Reese bass and added a few catchy  chords.”
