Following his breakthrough in 2017, Canadian DJ/producer Weska has built on early support from Adam Beyer and Eric Prydz with a string of impressive releases on Drumcode, Cocoon, Bedrock, and Mute. However, his EP on Factory 93 is one which helped shape the US imprint’s sound and direction, delivering the second-ever release in the form of his ‘Meru’ EP. Having already collaborated with Sven Väth and Bart Skils, 2023 welcomes a fresh production partner to the mix as he links up with fellow Drumcode and Factory 93 alumnus and hotly-tipped NYC-based talent Charles D, who returns following ‘Heavy / So High’ on the label last year, for two impactful and powerful techno cuts with ‘Dovercourt / Limelight’.
‘Dovercourt’ is a euphoric and captivating peak time track, with the two producers building on swirling synths and hypnotic vocals for a driving ride into rapturous territories. Carrying equal weight, ‘Limelight’ drills into harsher metallic tones and heavy-hitting percussion beneath soaring sirens to deliver a no-nonsense production built for both cavernous main rooms and dark basement spaces.
