California’s rising star WINK has proven to be a producer that’s impossible to pin down. Known for flitting between genres in the blink of an eye, the unstoppable force puts his versatility in full focus once again as he returns to NIGHTMODE with his dizzying trap-powered bassline single “Vertigo,” landing as the next offering from the label’s 14th season of releases.

Based out of the Bay Area, WINK is a producer of Middle Eastern descent that has been moving from the periphery into a clear line of sight after a host of genre-hopping and -blending bangers that make predicting his next move practically impossible. His music is moody and decidedly modern, with a dynamic discography covering trap, dubstep, drum & bass, techno, house, indie dance, electronica and various iterations of party-ready music. He first ran up with the NIGHTMODE crew last year, arriving with varied four-track ‘THRILL’ EP, which drew support from EDM.com, FuxWithIt, Dub Rebellion, Canadian Ravers, xKito, Beat for Beat, Affinity Ascension, The Music Essentials, Find Your Sounds, and more. On the tastemaker side, the release garnered live and radio support from RL Grime, PEEKABOO, Axel Boy, Ekali, NGHTMRE, and SLANDER. He’s now making his valiant return to the label to issue his follow-up single.
“VERTIGO” is bass creation tethered to trap influences, while feeding in influences from neighboring genres so flawlessly it effectively throws the equilibrium completely off balance. The head-spinning production swirls around an infectious vocal hook that hits with a centrifugal force, with its relentless loop and pitch-bends circling the hard-hitting beat. The blood continues to rush to the head as the track moves through womp-fueled synth leads, murky UK bass call-and-response, growling low-end, vivacious percussive rolls, and a deep, melodic trap outro. It’s a stunning new appearance from the impressive talent from WINK, and is part of an exciting joint project expected to see the light of day very, very soon.

Amir Schmuecker, known as WINK, is an 19-year-old producer with Middle Eastern roots from the Bay Area, CA. Despite being in the early stages of his career, the excitement surrounding him is undeniable. During his debut show with Brownies & Lemonade, the audience erupted with vibrant energy as he showcased a series of unreleased tracks and exciting IDs. WINK has already gained recognition as a promising talent, earning the label of ‘one to watch’ from industry tastemakers and established artists.
