Opening with sampled newscasts reporting strange drone sightings over New Jersey, “Space Invaderz” swiftly descends into a gritty, interstellar trap-infused groove. Its centerpiece is a collision of elastic basslines, sharp melodic bursts, squelchy textures, and gritty hip-hop vocal chops—a rhythmic chaos that refuses to settle.
Speaking to the otherworldly vibe captured by their collab, WonkyWilla describes the transportive charter of the single, saying “This tune just feels like you’re flying in an alien spaceship!”
Touching on their longstanding history together and his overall excitement to step up the game in his own career, SARGE shares: “I sent WonkyWIlla a track that I had been working on and he said he would be down to work together on it. It was really cool being able to reconnect with my childhood friend on a track together after so many years! This track meant a lot being my first major collaboration and label release.”
WonkyWilla, already familiar to the Bassrush crew from his notable appearance on Ahee’s recent ‘Wubcraft’ EP, featured on their collaboration “Wizard Womp,” continues to rise as an influential voice in dubstep’s new wave. With viral hits like “Orgasmic” surpassing 4 million streams and major festival slots like Electric Forest, Ubbi Dubbi, and Dancefestopia on top of his ongoing ‘Get Wonked’ tour, his presence in bass music is undeniable.
The collaboration marks a significant milestone for SARGE, as his debut official release and first joint effort with longtime friend WonkyWilla. Recently pivoting from house into aggressive dubstep territory, SARGE’s reputation has grown steadily through tracks like “BAD DECISIONS” and “BEATDOWN,” amassing over 400 thousand streams and expanding his dedicated fanbase.
“Space Invaderz” stands out distinctly in Bassrush’s lineup—raw, unpredictable, and uniquely tense. For SARGE, it’s a compelling introduction; for WonkyWilla, a fresh, daring addition to his evolving sound.
WonkyWilla and SARGE’s new Single “Space Invaderz” is available on all platforms via Bassrush Records.
