The Madrid-based partnership of Yoshi & Razner are in fact real-life twins, Jose Luis and Miguel Angel, known far and wide for creating uplifting trance that’s imbued with a cinematic quality. “Genesis” signals to a fresh, new approach to their craft as they steer towards a darker techno-fueled space from the trance they’re already notorious for making.
“Genesis” is laced with pure dancefloor menace. It’s a peak-time techno offering that is equally woven throughout with subtle psytrance influences, not to mention bolstered by powerful, thunderous kicks, swirling arpeggiations, acid growls, ominous pads, beefy sub-bass pulses and haunting vocalizations.
Jose Luis and Miguel point to the new creative horizons that the single serves for them.
“‘Genesis’ is more than just a track. It’s the launch of our new techno sound, and the beginning of a journey that covers both soaring melodies and hard-hitting beats,” says Yoshi and Razner. “It is the first track of a brand-new story that already promises to be a massive one for us.”
The arrival of the new single has been a long time coming. While the track was first unveiled to crowds as the dramatic opener in their performance at EDC Europe in July last year, the fully formed GENESIS project was exclusively introduced later to the trance community in the flesh during their set at Dreamstate SoCal 2023.
The release of “Genesis” on Dreamstate Records represents the next exciting step for the project, and the brothers anticipate plenty more throughout 2024. They have gigs so far confirmed in Australia, Europe, Asia, with news to follow on upcoming dates in the US.
