“Where We Begin” is a beaming romantic ballad that traces the beauty and vulnerability of new love. Cinematic strings and ostinato keys lay the foundation for the touching introduction. Pensive reflection unveils a guarded heart that’s slowly being stolen away. Subtle shimmering flourishes foreshadow the beauty that lies ahead while Amidy’s impassioned crooning breezes from reserved to exuberant as the passion takes hold. As the vocals shift to a full embrace, twinkling melodies erupt into jazzy synth progressions that skyrocket above ethereal pads and thrumming basslines. “Where We Begin” reminds us that love doesn’t always come at the perfect time but it can overcome all.

Skybreak sheds light on how the collab came together: “I had a few days to myself in Dallas in-between shows on my tour with Chime last year, and, as we’re both fans of each other’s work, it felt like a perfect opportunity to cook something up with Nolan [Amidy]! Most of ‘Where We Begin’ came together in one singular session, separated by an iconic BBQ and arcade break, of course. We were just so inspired by each others’ diversity of influences and resonated with each other’s songwriting chops that the track practically flew together!”

Breaking down the meaning behind the song, Amidy explains: “This song embodies the feeling of nostalgia and of better days. It’s hard to let people into your heart and soul. Keeping your walls up is normal practice nowadays because we are afraid of what people will think of us. But it’s when we let them in that we truly feel free. Finding that person who loves you for who you are is the most valuable thing in this world. And not letting time go to waste by finding that place to begin the process of letting them in is the X on the map.”

Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer Amidy is a triple threat that has been making waves in the melodic bass space with a slew of standout releases. With a catalog that boasts collaborations alongside heavy-hitters like Seven Lions, MitiS, Excision, Wooli, and more, it’s no secret that Amidy is one of electronic music’s rising talents. He is a veteran on the label with numerous singles and an EP drawing radio support from Illenium, ARMNHMR, and Alison Wonderland. He has upcoming shows at Bass Canyon, Lost Lands, and recently provided direct support for MitiS on his ‘Unity’ Tour in the US.

New Jersey-based Skybreak has been transforming his jazz background and mastery over the electronic music craft to create a wide range of brain-tickling bass productions spanning dubstep, color bass, melodic bass, and more. He’s no stranger to collaboration, previously working alongside Chime, Dabin, Au5, Ace Aura, CloudNone, and Nytrix, in addition to releasing remixes for Crystal Skies, Oliverse, William Black, and Said The Sky.

Impassioned, inspiring, and heartfelt, “Where We Begin” is a mystifying melodic dubstep ballad.

He made his festival debut in 2021 at EDC Las Vegas and has since toured with Dabin and SLANDER. Ramsay was born in New Jersey in 2002 to an exceptionally musical family. In 2014, his knack for songwriting naturally evolved into an interest in music production. The Skybreak project first took flight in 2016 and has yet to settle down. Scores of Skybreak releases span across the years, including two full length albums, several EPs (including the forest-themed Lumina EP and the collaboration-filled Unity EP) and even a few official remixes for names like Said The Sky, Dabin, Chime, William Black, Motion City Soundtrack, Ace Aura, Oliverse, Mokita, Josh Bogert and Crystal Skies. In more recent months, Skybreak has landed releases with Disciple, Lost In Dreams, NSD, Seeking Blue, Heaven Sent, Lowly and Circus Records.
